Description of Phoenix dactylifera
The date palm, the emblematic palm from Northern Africa and the Middle East, is more slender than the Canary Island date palm (Phoenix canariensis), and it also has fewer leaves. They are covered in a waxy substance that give it a grey green colour, with a bluish tinge.
