Origin of Brahea edulis
This palm is endemic to Guadalupe Island, Mexico, where it is threatened and almost extinct, because of wild goats that were introduced onto the island: they eat the seedlings and fruit.
Hardiness of Brahea edulis
The leaves are damaged at -8°C (18°F), but mature plants can withstand -12°C (10°F). It grows faster than other Brahea, which enables it to grow a new foliage if it has been damaged.
Description of Brahea edulis
It closely resembles its cousin Brahea armata, minus the bluish colour. It has strong features:a thick trunk, beautiful giant tough green palms, a very ornemental flowering ans edible fruit.
How to grow Brahea edulis
Place it in full sun, with moderate watering.
