The very hardy 'needle palm' (-23 to -25°C, -9 to -13°F). Slow-growing. See sizes on French page.
Needle palm
Endemic to the south-east of the United States (Alabama, Georgia, Mississippi, South Carolina, Florida)
The hardiest of all palms: -23 to -25°C (-9 to -13°F)
A small shrubby palm with dark green leaves. The trunk is covered in needles and remains short (1 m). A must-have for palm enthusisasts!
It grows in damp undergrowth, and thus requires a shady place in warm regions. Plant it in full sun in cooler areas, it needs warmth to grow.
Its growth is very slow, and it takes months to germinate (up to 2 years!), hence the high prices of old specimens.
