Cocolate orange
Valencia, Spain; natural mutation of Citrus sinensis navel
-8°C (17°F)
The chocolate orange is very original for its brown peel when ripe, and highly sought after for its seedless, very juicy, aromatic, and above all very sweet 200 gram fruit (very high Brix of 12). Harvest from November to January, but the fruit can remain on the tree for a long time.
May be grown in open ground along the coasts in mild climates. Avoid damp soils.
